Matriosk_ila new version

Two commissioned works, two paper dolls. The matrioska is a new version of my matrioskila; the boy is a new creation, inspired by the amazing "Crankbunny" by Norma V. Toraya (http://www.paperpuppetpalooza.com/).I'm thinking about selling them on Etsy, what do you think?

Ceramic pendants

My friend Raffaella and I share the same passion for handmade things. Look how gorgeous are these ceramic pendants she made:

I really love their textures and colours : )
She is following a Raku ceramic course ( a type of Japanese pottery) so more pictures of her work will follow. Stay in touch!

New greeting cards

This year Christmas Cards are inspired by a teddy bear my little girl has near her bed.
I draw the teddy bear and coloured it with watercolours, then I digitally added the background ( a japanese pattern). They come with a bright red envelope and they are blank inside, so you can customize your message.

Mariscal @ La Pedrera

   http://obrasocial.caixacatalunya.com/mariscal

Yesterday I went to the Mariscal exposition with a friend and I was happily surprised by the way the works were arranged: an explotion of colors and creativity.
I also liked very much pieces were shown not by the date of creation, but they were divided by themes and concepts.
The best thing of the expo is that once it's finished, you want to go back home and start drawing!

These are my friend and I (on the right), at the photo boot at the end of the Mariscal Experience :)

Cover to Cover -"The wind-up bird chronicle" by Murakami Haruki

I put this book in my summer luggage and we shared beautiful hours. Sadly (!) at the beginning of september I finished it. It is such a good novel that I'm sorry I finished it!
I really love Murakami's novels and it always makes me feel sad when they are over. It's still on my bedtable, I like to look at its cover and here it is, my sketch for my Flickr group.

Cover to Cover num 3

Trying to organize my usual chaos, I've found this drawing for my Flickr group "Cover to Cover" and I realized I didn't post it. So here it is, a beautiful comic by Yoshihiro Tatsumi "A drifting life". It's an autobiography where he speaks about his beginnings as a manga artist. I liked it very much because there so much in this comic: family relatioships, japan history, manga history.
And now I'm searching for the second part!

Mail from Japan

I received a beautiful letter from Yumiko, my japanese pen friend (yes, I love snail mails!).
She sent me some postcards from the japanese artist Yayoi Kusama: I didn't know this artist before writing to Yumiko. My friend wrote me about her art and her complicated and amazing life and I really love her style.
Here are two postcards she sent me:

And this is the detail of the back:

I like all these little people, the colors and specially I love that she gave names to them!

Featured on Sissy Sparrows Blog

Friday is my favorite day: I was born on a Friday in May , if we can on Friday evening my husband and I go to the cinema and now thanks to the Internet I discovered that often appears the FF (Friday Favourites), i.e. you write a post or a twitt on a selection of things that you like, just on Friday.

Today, Friday, one of my illustrations has been chosen in FF: it's the blog Sissy Sparrow, by Julie & Donna, two brilliant Australian designers.

This is the llustration they have chosen, Cafè con leche.

Feed Your Soul Project

I don't remember how I found Indie Fixx, a blog written by Jen Wallace, but I visit it now and then, and everytime I discover interesting and stimulating things.
Photos are colorful and have a special light that I love.

Besides there are always great projects to discover: I decided to get involved in the Feed Your Soul Project, a free art project in which each month artists are invited to participate and to contribute a print which is totally free and available for download.
The aim is to help art lovers feed their souls with art in these difficult economic times and to help artists promote their work.
This is my contribution:

If you are an artist and would like to submit your work, join the project!

I love Italo Calvino

Here's one of the projects which I worked on lately (and I loved most): the invitations for Sara's (my sister) wedding.
It was a very nice job that ended with a trip to Italy, where I found my family and friends, with whom we have celebrated the event.
Hugs, smiles, tears ... thanks to Sara and Andrea for all these emotions.

Street art

I've so much things to share, but so little time...next post will be longer, I promise.
For the moment just three shots with my Nokia: I was walking down the street and I met this little serious English guards...they make me laugh and I had to stop and take a photo!
